717 N. Buhler Road

After an entire year of house hunting, we finally bought our first home!

Our new home is on the east side of Hutchinson, KS in what is called the "sand hills" area.  We have 17.5 acres of land, and the majority of it is fenced pasture.  The house is almost 1800 sqft, with a full finished basement; we have 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, and a huge remodeling project on our hands!

The house was built in 1977, and has had very little updating since then.  Carpet in EVERY room (yes, even kitchen and bathrooms, gag!), choppy style layout (tons of walls are coming out) and dark, almost black trim and woodwork covering the entire house.  We have huge visions for this place because it has tons of potential!

We plan on having our horses here soon, and maybe even a few of the smaller calves from our 2011 calf herd that we will feed out this year.  There isn't a barn, but the fencing is in good shape, and we plan to put up a lean-to for the horses.

We decided to do a lot of the work before we moved in since our landlord was letting us stay as long as we needed in our rental.  The 1st full day we had the keys (May 21st) we started taking things down and making changes.  I am a list-maker, so there are of course lists of to-do's...that I tried to stick to in the beginning, but quickly gave up on!

Chance and I are so excited to embark on this next chapter, and we hope you will follow along as we renovate this place and make it our own.  I will post about our renovations as we complete different projects.

Here are a couple of pictures from back in April - we will post updated ones soon! :)

Closer up of the outside.
Definitely not our favorite decor, but the siding we want is expensive, so this'll be there for a little while...
