Remodeling - We're STILL Painting Kitchen Cabinets!

Yes, we started in August, and yes we're STILL painting our kitchen cabinets.  That is a bad sign about the progress of our house, and I can say it is reflective of other areas of our house, which will NOT be shown on the blog quite yet.


Sand, prime, sand, paint, sand, paint, then antique...that's how many steps we've done to the cabinet doors.  It has taken forever!!

Those are almost done, and as we finish up the doors, we decided to go ahead and get started on the bases.  We've been putting the bases off because we knew it was going to be messy...and boy has it been messy!

The messiest part of this whole project was sanding the cabinet bases. Since we can't take them outside like we did with the doors and shelves, we had to sand them and live with the dust.  We covered all of our things in plastic, and closed doors and air vents the best we could...but everything we own is still covered in a layer of yuck...

We voted for busting it out - which took our project to a whole new level, not to mention stretched out our timeline A LOT!  Hopefully it'll worth the upgrade in the end.

The person who invented blind-front cabinets for corners instead of a lazy susan...I have a few words for you!  

We have finished priming all of the cabinets, I just don't have a picture on here.  During the couple of weeks that our kitchen has been like this, we have broken down and had to plug the dishwasher back up to wash a load of dishes, and finally broke down and moved the stove back so we could cook an actual meal.  

We are on hold again until we have an entire weekend day (which is impossible this time of year) to bust out the soffet and finish the kitchen.  It will undoubtedly take quite a bit longer than planned because that's just how all of our projects turn out to be these days lol!
