During Thanksgiving weekend, our part of the state was hit with a severe ice storm. It feels like we're still cleaning up trees ("we" meaning Chance :)) The damage would've been a lot worse if we'd had any wind, but luckily, for the first time since I've lived in Kansas, the wind didn't blow for 2-3 days. There were so many people without power, but we were so fortunate and only lost power for a few hours. Our fireplace stayed full of a fire just in case, but we were so very lucky. Our trees didn't fair so well and they lost a ton of branches and limbs.
By Sunday of that weekend, the roads were cleared up and we headed to the farm to help with the cattle. Turned out there wasn't as much ice down there and just a few degrees warmer weather had helped to melt most of what they had.
Ready to help the crew!
Helping Grandpa check fences
Knocking ice off of fences
He loved crunching the ice with his boots!
Snuggled back in our warm house and thankful for power
