We have finally purchased the flooring for our upstairs - this is HUGE!
A couple weeks ago, we went to Chance's sister's wedding reception, and so many people asked us how our house was coming along. We repeatedly explained..."we're still living in the basement"...and "it's moving along", but it was hard to give a time frame for when it will be finished. We are so excited to say that our time in the basement is coming to a close soon, hopefully by the end of June or early July. With having our flooring down, that will mean we can at least move our furniture upstairs and start unpacking somewhat...living out of boxes for over a year now is starting to get old!
Choosing flooring has been a big deal - not only for the cost investment and needing to save up the money - but we have been in a debate about carpet versus hardwood in the bedrooms. I'm not a fan of carpet but we have decided to put carpet in our three guest rooms and hardwood everywhere else, including our master bedroom (except bathrooms and entry ways - those are going to be tile). It will help us save some money by doing a few rooms in carpet, plus I'm sure the comfort factor is higher with carpet in the guestrooms, particularly in the baby's room :).
We are pleased with our purchases, and we were able to get a great deal on the flooring through Chance's uncle Greg who is a contractor. We ended up adding some beautiful slate tile to our order for our front entry way that we can't wait to install.
Here are a few pictures of the hardwood floor sample along with the carpet compared to some of our paint colors.
