Set-back #1 - Rotten bathroom floors and sinking toilets - talk about a mess!
This is what happens when you have linoleum, then carpet padding, and THEN carpet on top of a bathroom floor...you never know when you're toilet seals are bad! To make matters worse, it's this way in BOTH bathrooms!
Set-back #2 - Rotten subflooring and support boards around back sliding-glass door
This even includes a hole that goes to the outside!! No wonder we had so many bugs and critters in our basement! Once Chance fixes the inside, we have to bust out the concrete step on the back patio and fix the oustide boards that are rotten...
...and by "we" I mean, Chance :)
| It's getting fixed...by my handy husband! |
Set-back #3 - 4 layers of paint that peel off like wall paper
We can't paint over this stuff, so our options are to either skim-coat the entire room or re-drywall it (~$500)...awesome!
Set-back #4 - Carpet padding under the basement carpet that is glued to the floor.
After having one of our friends who does concrete work check out the basement floors, he explained that our best solution is to grind it off and skim coat the floor before we stain it...
...and I'm sure there is more to come!
