It's hard to believe our sweet boy is one! How could the past year have gone by so quickly?! We have been blessed to have a healthy baby (aside from all of the daycare colds) and to have had a relatively easy year with him. What an adventure it has been learning how to be parents, learning how to juggle life, jobs, all of our animals AND this precious little being we've been given. I am so proud of Chance and I and can only imagine how much fun we're going to have with him this next year.
On Henry's actual birthday, November 2nd, we had a small birthday party at our house. It was a crazy weekend - Halloween on Friday night (with Henry sleeping ALL night for the 3rd time in his life - woohoo!), Chance's cousin's wedding on Saturday in Wichita, and then his party on Sunday - all with the time change in the middle...whew!
Henry was a trooper to say the least and had a great time at his party. Chance installed the storm door on the front door over the weekend, and Henry was loving being able to see out, especially to see his dog Gus. We had to remind him he had party guests haha!
Loved the balloons (some are still floating around our house)
His jumbo birthday cupcake
Blowing out his candle with Daddy
Henry LOVED his cupcake! At one point, he took the icing off and just ate it like a cookie (it was still a little cold and hard from being refrigerated). We eventually took it away because we were worried he would get sick from all of the sugar. We were so proud that he didn't cry during the singing of "Happy Birthday". I think it was because we had the trial run the weekend before with my family and he wasn't so scared of the singing anymore.
Lots of party guests
Right before opening presents, the Birthday Boy fell and hurt his chin.
We were just so glad he didn't bust it open because that would've been bad!

Side note - my mom was able to watch most of the party via FaceTime and Henry even blew her kisses a few times. It's so hard being away from my family when we have big milestones, and we are very grateful for technology to help make the distance smaller.
Henry had some helpers with opening presents
Getting sleepy...
No more pictures please!
Ok, we'll take it!
Loved the cupcakes from a local bakery
I had a lot of goals for the decorations, but some of them didn't get accomplished. I was able to pull off a few crafty ideas, and tried not to be hard on myself that they didn't look so great!
Emma's handywork :)

It was a long day, but we still had a happy boy at bedtime - we had so much fun just playing and getting him ready for bed together.
Perfect end to a great day
